If taken care of your traps will last longer then you. However, the coil springs on your traps will need replacing from time to time. If you are serious about your craft you've done your preseason scouting; prepared your trapping rig; waxed and dyed your traps; paid for your furbearer license, and possibly taken vacation time at work. Don't take to the field with weak springs. It may cost you a huge boar coon or an incidental bobcat.
